  • Your access stays on your iPhone
  • Urgent alerts repeat up to 3 times
  • "I'm on it" from the Lock Screen
  1. An iPhone lock screen shows 02:14.
  2. An alert arrives: web-01 is off, acme-prod, off since 02:14.
  3. Opening it shows web-01: off for 1 min, CPU at 97 % just before it went off, no metrics since, and the uptime check failing in 4 of 4 regions.
  4. Recent events and the actions Power on and Snapshot are listed.
  5. About 8 seconds later the incident resolves: web-01 is active again, after 4 min.

Lock screen at 02:14.

01How it works

What 2 a.m. looks like.

On-call in your pocket, not a control panel. Four steps, then back to sleep. Everything else can wait for the laptop.

  1. A 16-second film with music and no dialogue.
  2. Dusk over a flat plain with a level horizon. Text: You log off at dusk. Then: Duskwatch keeps watch.
  3. At 02:14 one push alert lands on an iPhone lock screen: api-prod: deploy failed, acme-prod, the previous version is still live.
  4. The app opens on the likely cause and the version that is still live. Text: What broke, and why.
  5. A confirmation sheet: swipe to roll back api-prod, then Face ID. Text: One swipe. Then Face ID.
  6. At 02:17 api-prod is rolled back to 3f2a91c and live again. Text: Back to sleep.
  7. End card: the Duskwatch mark rises over the horizon. Calm at 2 a.m. Join the waitlist, duskwatch.app. Duskwatch is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by DigitalOcean. DigitalOcean is a trademark of DigitalOcean, LLC.
  1. 02:14

02:14. Woken only for a real problem

A push alert when a deploy fails, an app keeps restarting, a droplet goes off, a Kubernetes cluster or load balancer is in error, or a certificate is about to expire. Urgent ones repeat, up to 3 times, until someone taps "I'm on it".

  2. 02:15

02:15. Understand it in 30 seconds

What failed, since when, the likely cause, and whether your last good version is still serving traffic.

  3. 02:16

    02:16. Take one safe action

Roll back an app, restart it or one of its components, reboot a droplet, or add your IP to the database. Every change is a swipe that names it, then Face ID, and the Lock Screen follows a rollback or reboot until it is done. There are no delete actions.

  4. 02:17

02:17. Hand off, or go back to sleep

Share a log excerpt with your team, open the droplet in your SSH app, or pick it up in the control panel.

02What's in it

Made for the quick look.

Everything a night on call needs, from the alert to what broke and why, and what the month will cost.

  • Findings, not just status

What needs attention first, then why: SSH open to the internet, a disk full in about 5 days, the likely cause of a failed deploy, a service stuck in a crash loop.

  • Logs with live tail

Build, deploy and runtime logs for App Platform, with live tail and a share-an-excerpt button.

  • Push alerts

Eighteen alert types, from a droplet off or a failed deploy to Kubernetes, load balancers, certificates and firewalls. A storm becomes one notification, a DigitalOcean incident holds related alerts, and urgent ones repeat, up to 3 times, until someone taps "I'm on it". Sent from a server that can only read.

  • Guarded actions

Reboot, power cycle or snapshot a droplet, roll back an app, restart an app or one of its components, add your IP to a database. Every change is a swipe that names the action, the resource and the team, then Face ID. No delete actions.

  • Know what the month will cost

Month to date, a month-end estimate and a spend budget with pacing, on your phone and the Lock Screen.

Also in Duskwatch

  • Live Activities and widgets

Follow an alert or a rollback on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island until it is done, and a DigitalOcean incident until it is resolved (iOS 18+). Widgets, Control Center, Siri and Spotlight for the rest.

  • Beyond droplets

Kubernetes clusters, load balancers, certificates, volumes and Spaces, each with its own findings. Kubernetes, load balancers and certificates also send alerts.

  • Multiple teams

Every client team in one app, with problem counts per team.

03Sign-in and privacy

Your access stays on your iPhone.

Our server can look, never touch.

Who holds which permission. Sign-in asks only to view. You approve it on DigitalOcean's own page, and it lives in your iPhone's Keychain. If you turn on "Enable actions", that permission replaces the view-only one and stays on this iPhone; it is never sent to our server. Only if you turn on alerts, our alert server in the EU gets a separate, read-only permission from DigitalOcean, and it rejects and revokes anything that can write.
  • Sign in on DigitalOcean's page. We never see your password.

  • The permission that can change things never leaves this iPhone.

  • Alerts use a separate read-only permission you can revoke.

Kept, only with alerts on

Without alerts: nothing that identifies you or your account.

  • The read-only permission, encrypted
  • Team ID and your push address
  • Alert rules, mutes and scope
  • 30 days of alert history, as IDs

Never kept

  • Your password
  • The permission that can change things
  • Team and resource names
  • Logs, metric history, database passwords

Hosted in the EU. Turn alerts off and it's deleted within 24 hours.

05Questions

Short answers.

  • Duskwatch is an iOS app, in development for iPhone. A TestFlight beta comes before the App Store: after you sign up, you can ask for an invite.

iPhone first. If you want Android or iPad, say so in the short survey after you join.

  • Droplets, App Platform apps, managed databases, Kubernetes clusters, load balancers, volumes, Spaces buckets, certificates, uptime checks, billing and DigitalOcean status.

From your iPhone you can power on, shut down, reboot, power cycle or snapshot a droplet, redeploy or roll back an app, restart an app or one of its components, and add your IP to a database's trusted sources. Every change is a swipe that names it, then Face ID. There are no delete actions.

DNS, standalone Functions and the container registry are not covered. Tell us in the survey if you need them.

  • Eighteen alert types, each with its own switch: droplets that go off or fill their disk, failed or unusually slow deploys, apps that are unhealthy, keep restarting or run hot, databases, uptime checks, Kubernetes clusters, load balancers, certificates, cloud firewalls, your account and your spend.

Alerts in the same minute share one notification. When DigitalOcean has an incident in your region, related alerts wait under one incident notification instead of buzzing one by one. Urgent ones repeat every 5 minutes, up to 3 times, until someone taps "I'm on it" in the notification, which quiets every device on the account. "Snooze 30 min" is there too, and you can mute one resource on every device or choose which resources can notify you.

Open an urgent alert from its notification and it stays on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island until it recovers.

  • No. Sign-in asks only to view, and actions are a separate permission you approve. Either one stays in this iPhone's Keychain and is never sent to us. Alerts use their own read-only permission, and only if you turn them on.

    How sign-in works

  • Basic monitoring is free and read-only, for one team. Duskwatch Pro adds alerts, actions and multiple teams for $2.99 a month or $19.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.

The trial starts once Duskwatch is on the App Store, and the App Store shows the price in your currency.
